When someone tells me they have never had family portraits taken, I get a little nervous and excited all at the same time. I really feel so blessed that I have been granted the trust to be the one, and respect the responsibility I have been given a well. I was so excited when this family was up for a studio and outdoor session in the middle of winter! The light in January and February is my absolute favorite. It is soft and pretty, and makes outdoor photos feel a little extra magical. We started in my studio in northeast Minneapolis. I can tell you there were lots of giggles and silly moments…and my goodness some really beautiful sweet moments. This family is just a breath of fresh air, being so relaxed and natural during their entire session. These are the times when being a family photographer really gives me the most joy! We moved outdoors just a few minutes from my studio to catch the gorgeous golden light right before sunset. I was so happy with how willing this family was to just enjoy our milder temps that day (a balmy Minnesota 28 degrees!), and wow, look at how beautiful it was…totally worth the wind and cold, the result is simple and organic photographs that I hope this family will cherish for a lifetime!
