We had the most incredible fall. 2014 will go down as one of the weirdest weather years for portrait photographers with snow well into spring, a coldish summer, and the most beautiful and well deserved fall in the history of all man kind, amen. This session was a short one. It lasted only 45 minutes, but it resulted in some of my favorite photos of my own girls ever. My approach as a family photographer is to let the session flow organically to allow my clients (especially the younger set) to relax and truly enjoy their time with me and each other. I want authentic smiles, relaxed poses, and simplicity. I styled these two nuggets with a handful of new items from Target, and some old faithful pieces from Crewcuts and Mini Boden. We headed out for an adventure. We hiked, we stopped to appreciate the nature all around us (including a praying mantis!), and really had a wonderful time together making and capturing memories…and that is the whole point of having photographs taken, right?
As a photographer it is easy to get caught up in the perfection of a photo…the pose, the light, the composition, etc…but I wanted to look at these photos and get the same feeling my clients do. I wanted to look at our photos this year and just feel…and I have to say, these make me laugh, cry, and swoon a bit, I am absolutely in love with these monkeys. I am so happy they were captured as they really really are. So…here they are, my Professor, and my Poet.
